Rick and Ruth met at Camp Luther the summer of 1964 as camp counselors. Three years later, after Ruth graduated from Valparaiso University, they were married and spent a very short honeymoon at Camp. Rick continued his schooling, graduating from Marquette Dental School and later completing his residency in Orthodontics at the Medical College of Georgia. They have lived in Green Bay since 1979 raising two daughters and now have five grandchildren.

The Steinke’s have been very active at Faith Lutheran Church in Green Bay and have served on many boards and committees. Ruth has been involved in two church building committees, banner committee, altar guild, choir, and chaired the 1^st cookie walk at Faith. Rick is currently completing his tenth year on the board of directors for the North Wisconsin District. At Faith he is chairman of the Stewardship Committee and is on an ushering team.

Rick and Ruth have a passion for Camp Luther. They served as co-chairs for the Entrusted with Treasure Capital Campaign, raising funds for the new retreat center. They also co-chaired two very successful dinner/auction fund raisers for the Every Kid to Camp program, raising over $50,000 at each event.

Their love of the Lord, and belief that God has placed a plan for giving in each person’s heart, has led the Steinkes to become Planned Giving Counselors. They have attended many seminars and conferences to increase their knowledge of gift planning and Rick has received certification as a Development Executive (CDE) from the Concordia Center for Financial Leadership.
